Finally decided to deal with the enemy carrier then, so I sent my cruiser and destroyer squadrons off in that direction.Ībout this time I got the message 'the emperor is gone' and screen goes to cinematic mode showing a bentusi ship and 'mission successful' message & all the semi-animated cutscene remastered stuff after that. Then after a few of these waves the defecting captain guy jumps in on top of you and gives you a pair of destroyers and a bunch of frigates.ĭetected a wave of enemy bombers incoming shortly after that & launched my full complement of fighters from the carrier to intercept). Had to defeat more waves (detected far out this time so I had enough warning to go out and squish them). Wierd thing is the start of the final mission took several attempts to avoid mothership being destroyed (finally just captured the enemy heavy cruiser -which was doing most damage to the MS - with salvage corvettes).īut once I got over that hurdle it was easy enough. I just completed the final mission on single player (remastered). The main thing the original devs worked on was the campaigns. The skirmish mode can be fun as well, though multiplayer was a secondary feature with this game. It definetly requires skill and some trial-and-error in both campaigns. There is quite a lot of variety to it, and the story is extremely well thought out (look up the manual for this game, has a huge section for the pre-history of the first game and the mothership).
